Dr. Alexander PUCHER  (*1971) comes from  Austria.
He studied geography and cartography at the University of Vienna and graduated with a thesis titled: ”Applied database-driven cartographic visualization in urban areas”.
Between 2001 - 2004, he was a research assistant and a university lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Science at the University of Vienna, since 2004 he has been a University Assistant. Within several projects, his responsibilities are in the fields of architectural design and implementation of system modules as well as software quality assurance.
His major interests lie in GIS, web-mapping and the Open Source Cartography/GIS.

Dr. Alexander PUCHER  (*1971) comes from  Austria.

 

He studied geography and cartography at the University of Vienna and received his PhD with a dissertation on the qualitative optimization of internet based cartographic information systems, based on knowledge gained from user-centered development process. For more than 10 years he is research assistant and university lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Science at the University of Vienna. Within several scientific projects, his responsibilities are in the fields of architectural design and implementation of system modules as well as software quality assurance. His major interests lie in use and user issues in cartography and web-mapping. He is an active member of national and international cartographic organizations, among them vice-chair of the Commission on Use and User Issues of the International Cartographic Association.
